The session marked the official kick-off of planning for the 2026 pilot, which will be rolled out across 15 schools in the Lower River Region (LRR) and the West Coast Region. Through this initiative, students will be trained in papaya cultivation, nursery management, agribusiness basics, and environmental care, while schools will establish demonstration farms and access market linkages through BayKart’s digital ecosystem.

Together, BayKart and Smart Agripreneurs’ Academy aim to:

  • Train students in papaya cultivation and agribusiness
  • Promote climate-resilient agriculture in schools
  • Establish papaya nurseries and orchards
  • Support student clubs and demonstration farms
  • Connect school harvests to BayKart’s marketplace
  • Contribute to BayKart’s national target of planting 5,000 papaya trees

The 2026 pilot is expected to establish 1,000–1,500 papaya trees, with participating schools selected from across both clusters: transplant schools and nursery-production schools.

Papaya4Schools has officially begun, and together, we are ready to build something truly impactful for our young people and our nation.
