BayKart Selected as Digital Agriculture Platform Partner for CROP-H Project
BayKart has been chosen by Shelter For Life International to provide the digital marketplace and training platform for the CROP-H Project, serving 24 cooperatives and more than 17,600 farmers across The Gambia.
Under the project, BayKart will lead the digital onboarding, training, and activation of 24 agricultural cooperatives across six regions, reaching more than 17,600 farmers through its innovative agricultural marketplace. The initiative represents one of the country's largest coordinated efforts to strengthen digital agriculture and improve market linkages for farming communities.
Driving Digital Transformation in Agriculture
The CROP-H Project seeks to strengthen agricultural market systems by connecting farmers directly with buyers through technology. As the project's e-commerce platform partner, BayKart will provide a secure and user-friendly marketplace where cooperatives can register, list products, access market information, and participate in real agricultural transactions. The platform will also support logistics coordination, price transparency, and data-driven decision-making to improve efficiency across the agricultural value chain.
Training Farmers for Long-Term Success
BayKart has developed a practical, hands-on training methodology tailored to rural farming communities. Training sessions will focus on digital literacy, cooperative onboarding, product listing, pricing, transaction management, and independent use of the BayKart platform. The approach emphasizes community participation, local language facilitation, and inclusive engagement to ensure women, youth, and underserved groups benefit from the project.
Each regional training session will combine classroom demonstrations with live platform exercises, enabling participants to create cooperative accounts, register farmer profiles, upload products, and experience simulated buyer transactions before using the platform independently.
Nationwide Cooperative Network
Implementation will span six agricultural regions:
- Upper River Region (URR)
- Central River South (CRRS)
- Central River North (CRRN)
- Lower River Region (LRR)
- West Coast Region (WCR)
- North Bank Region (NBR)
The six-week implementation will include cooperative assessments, platform deployment, regional training sessions, live transaction simulations, and ongoing monitoring to ensure sustainable adoption of digital agriculture technologies.
